Objective

  1. Facilitate Professional Development: The award aims to support post-doctoral researchers in attending academic conferences directly relevant to their field of study.
  2. Enhance Scholarly Engagement: to encourage active participation and engagement in the scholarly community and alleviate financial barriers to attending conferences.
  3. Support Research Impact: to strengthen the research impact of post-doctoral scholars by helping them share their work and gain valuable feedback.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a postdoctoral scholar from any department at USask for at least 6 months at the time of the application, with a research focus in one of USask’s research priority areas.

Number of Awards

  • 3 awards of $500
  • Open for application every March and September 


Application Requirements

  • Provide a statement of work describing the research project or provide an abstract submitted to the conference/meeting. The abstract or research project must contain background, methodology, results, and conclusion (2500-character limit).
  • Provide a statement on how your research fits within the USask’s Research Priorities (1500-character limit).

Submission Process

  • Fill the form (Annex 1) provided during the application and convert to PDF file following the number of characters suggested.
  • Submit complete applications via email to executive.sps@usask.ca with the subject line: " Travel Award Application – (Your Name)."
  • Successful applicants will be notified via email no later than April 24th, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered.

Deadline

  • Applications must be received no later than March 31st, 2025.

 

The awards are adjudicated by a subcommittee of CGPS' Postdoctoral Advisory Committee and one member of the PDF executive committee. Advisory Committee who will adhere to institutional EDI policies during the adjudication.

  • Upon selection, award recipients must confirm their acceptance and provide any additional documentation as requested.

The reviewers will rate each application using the submitted material, according to the following criteria:

  • How the research fits with USask’s Research Priorities
  • Scientific merit and quality
  • The significance of the conference
  • Collaborative and interdisciplinary research
